I'm not sure if you want feedback or not (some people get offended by criticism). If you want, I have some comments to give on these (and a few of your other pieces).

I don't actively look for critique, but I definitely don't mind it. So go ahead.

Most of these are really cool and fit in well with each other as clearly from the same world. But the life symbol comes off kind of cartoony (the cartoon stylized heart with the medic cross)- it breaks suspension of disbelief for me, because it seems like it belongs more in an arcade game than a serious work of literary world building.

Maybe a slightly stylized version of a more realistic heart? Or Qi lines from a stylized body or something world lore related.

The sun and tree come off almost not fitting, but they don't stand out as much as the heart. If you could give the sun and tree more extreme stylization and embellishment that might help too.

I love enchanting and runology.

I don't know if this was intentional or not... but blood necromancy and shadow all have the same border motif... and that happens to look very much like a common symbol in Islam. ۞ You might have inadvertently associated your dark "evil" magics that are outlawed with real world Islam here.

Good reference: [link]

People will of course thrust political interpretations upon any work, even if they weren't intended. But this one is a pretty strong implication.

Cool symbols, but you might want to rethink the border usage if you're worried about that interpretation. Of course, it's your world, so you can certainly just tell people it was unintentional and that they should stop coming up with religious and political conspiracy theories about fiction :)

Looking at the Life symbol now, I can see what you mean. I think the main issue with it is the cross inside it. It could overall definitely benefit from a slight redesign.

I quite like the tree as it is (though it might just look a bit too cloudy. I could try to make it more leafy), but the sun I've actually had some second thoughts with for a while. Been meaning to update it with something better.

I was not aware at all about the resemblance to a Islamic symbol. The trickiest part I find in designing symbols is that they can end up looking like something from the real world. But I'm not really too worried about it. I believe there is enough difference to not cause any severe uproars, and I'm sure it's a fairly commonly used shape outside of religion too. Like you said, I can just explain that it was unintentional, and if people refuse to believe that, then they are honestly free to do so.

I think the main problem I see with the sun (the tree isn't as extreme) is the disparity of detail, compared to others. I think it really just needs more embellishment, which would let it fit in with the rest of the group. Maybe some intertwining border or knots or something?

The tree is almost detailed enough- personally I'd probably add some kind of circle or halo the roots can curve up around to represent the world and have the top of the tree growing out of that. It just seems like it needs a little something to help it compete in detail with the other symbols.

Avoiding real world symbols is tricky. I just try to skim compilations of religious symbols to make sure I'm not inadvertently replicating something- although I often draw from them deliberately for inspiration too :)

I've uploaded a new version. I liked the circle and tree idea so I changed the Nature symbol to something along that vein. Decided to keep the heart for Life, but made it more stylized and added a flame to it rather than a cross, since fire is often associated with life. I completely redesigned Light, though I'm still not quite sure if I like it.

I also realized that I had forgotten about one of my schools of magic, so I added the Alchemy symbol.

Wow, big improvements. The circle helps quite a bit with the nature magic.

Life looks better, but your fires are different styles (see the other fire in elementalism). The one in the heart looks kind of corporate style.

It looks like you changed light twice? I liked the one from nine or so hours ago better. Both are definitely improvements over the first, though.

I'm getting a much better sense that these all come from the same world now :)

I didn't really want to have the same fire symbol for two different schools of magic, especially since the two hail from different areas of the world, and deal with very different types of magic.

I believe I actually changed Light five times or so over the course of yesterday :) I just couldn't decide on what I liked, so I made five variants. I'm not sure which one of those were the one you saw first, but I think it was the first one. Personally I prefer the current one. I felt the other ones looked too much like religious symbols (religions in my world, that is). This one does too a little bit, but not as much as the ones before.

Cheers for the help. It was much appreciated. I think I'll leave the symbols as they are for now. Got a few other things I'd like to spend time on at the moment.
